This month, in addition to our annual election of officers, we’re offering a selection of films from the Queer Women Of Color Media Arts Project. QWOCMAP creates, exhibits, and distributes short films that authentically reflect the lives of queer women of color (cisgender & transgender), and gender variant and transgender people of color (of any orientation), and address the vital, intersecting issues that concern our multiple communities. The Exiles have been a Community Partner of QWOCMAP for several years, helping to put on their annual film festival in June.

What could POSSIBLY be the connection between wooded trails, sunny BART stops and floral sheets?  With her alluring HEFT, a queer Black woman in the East Bay draws a bevy of suitors and scoundrels.  Sweltering dreams and secret longings emerge in a FIGURE DRAWING. After a life-changing accident, a Black lesbian model finds her true LOVE ABILITY where she least expects it. A queer Asian efficiency expert focuses on CHICKS AND LOVE to get betrothed by her next birthday. A woman bubbles with nerves while making DINNER FOR TWO. The passion between two queer Black women ripples across the vastness of different decades in YOUR KISS.

Before the films, we’ll take any additional nominations for our four elected Officer positions – Co-Coordinator, Treasurer, Membership Officer, and Recorder – accept any paper ballots members have brought with them, allow any last-minute voting, and announce the winners. Our other seven Officer positions – Newsletter, Doorkeeper, Orientation, PR, Sergeant-at-Arms, Volunteer Coordinator, and Website – are filled at our April business meeting. Come to the meeting or let us know if you’re interested in helping out as an officer!

Our programs are held at the Center for Sex and Culture, 1349 Mission Street, San Francisco.

BART and Muni are two blocks away.
